Shyrobokov Volodymyr

He was born on April 5, 1942 in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, Tyumen region (Russia).

In 1961 V. Shyrobokov was transferred from the Sverdlovsk Medical Institute to the 3rd year of the medical faculty of the Kyiv Medical Institute. O.O. Bohomolets. In 1965, after graduating with honors, he continued his postgraduate studies at the Department of Microbiology (supervisor - Professor SS Dyachenko). In 1967 he defended his dissertation "Experimental study of some issues of molecular biology of Coxsackie viruses." In 1977 – doctoral dissertation "Comparative study of the biological properties of Coxsackie viruses and their selected variants."
Works at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology of Kyiv Medical Institute. O.O. Bohomolets (now - Bohomolets National Medical University), since 1979 its head.

In 1986-1990 Volodymyr Shyrobokov was the dean of the first medical faculty, in 1990-2003 he was the vice-rector for academic work of the Bohomolets National Medical University. VP Shirobokov – Chairman of the Problem Commission on Microbiology and Virology of the Ministry of Health and the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Chief Freelance Specialist in Microbiology and Virology of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, member of the National Agency for Higher Education (NAME) since July 27, 2016.
In the field of virology, Vladimir Shyrobokov for many years develops fundamental and applied problems of enterovirusology: biological and genetic properties of enteroviruses, their spread in the environment, the pathogenesis of human enterovirus diseases, improving methods of virological diagnosis. The phenomenon of dissociation of enteroviruses discovered during reproduction in a cell is of general theoretical and medical significance. Most of his work is aimed at the clinic, revealing the pathogenesis of infectious diseases. A series of studies in the field of sanitation and virology is also important.

In the field of microbiology, his works and monographs on the problems of human microbial ecology are known. A separate important area of research is the scientific substantiation of the protection of the environment and drinking water from pathogenic microbes.

He made a significant contribution to the development of environmental microbiology, the role of protozoa as a reservoir of pathogenic microbes and viruses. He is the author of well-known textbooks and manuals on medical microbiology, published not only in Ukrainian and Russian, but also in other European languages, many programs in microbiology and virology for students, graduate students, degree seekers.
Author of 485 scientific papers, including 8 textbooks, 42 textbooks for students and doctors, 14 monographs, 56 patents and copyright certificates. Has prepared 10 doctors and 24 candidates of sciences.
Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, elected on May 16, 2003, majoring in microbiology, virology; Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, elected on May 23, 2012, majoring in microbiology, virology; full member of the Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences (1999), doctor of medical sciences (1978), professor (1980), honorary professor of Ternopil State Medical University named after I. Gorbachevsky (2012), honorary professor Institute of Microbiology and Immunology. I.I. Mechnikov (2012), Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (1996), winner of the award. DK Zabolotny NAS of Ukraine (2016), winner of the award. acad. IM Blokhina Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences (2001). He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Third Degree (2002), the Order of Merit of the Second Degree (2016), the Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2005), the Order of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Prince Volodymyr of the Third Degree (2006), honors and medals of the NAS and NAMS of Ukraine.
